E Drill-Control Features

  • Precision Linkage & Row Control – The broader linkage design provides accurate seed row positioning, making it ideal for efficient close inter-row hoeing operations.
  • Twin Product Placement – A single tine fitted with either a single coulter to deliver just one product, or a twin coulter allows the placement of two products within each row at 25 cm centres, ensuring consistent spacing and precise application.
  • Twin Guttler Closing Wheels – Twin Guttler closing wheels are mounted on a tandem axle and feature a toe-out angle to draw soil over the seed. A positive camber effectively “pinches” the seeding zone, promoting optimal seed-to-soil contact.
  • Single Tine, Double Seed Boot – The Scorpion utilises a single narrow tine equipped with either a single or a double seed boot, enabling multiple product application in a single pass.
  • Targeted Soil Redistribution & Firming – Following the tine, a pair of Guttler rings mounted on a tandem axle are strategically angled to redistribute soil over the seeded row. This action efficiently firms the soil around the seed, creating excellent seed-soil contact for optimum germination.
  • British made – Designed and manufactured in the UK for quality, innovation and dependable performance.

Overview

In response to customer demand for greater choice in press wheel options, Dale Drills developed the Scorpion drilling assembly to complement our proven standard steel press wheel system. The Scorpion assembly is designed to be factory-fitted to new machines or retro-fitted to existing Eco drills, offering current owners a straightforward upgrade path.

Engineered for precision drilling at 25 cm row spacing, the Scorpion assembly features a single narrow tine with a double seed boot, allowing multiple products to be placed accurately in one pass. This is followed by twin Guttler rings mounted on a tandem axle. Their strategic angle redistributes soil over the seeded row and applies consistent firming around the seed, helping to create ideal conditions for reliable and uniform germination.

The Scorpion assembly is available across the entire Eco drill range, giving growers the flexibility to choose the press wheel setup that best suits their soil types, crops, and establishment practices. By expanding our range of options, Dale Drills continues to provide practical, precision-focused solutions tailored to modern farming systems, both for new buyers and existing Eco drill users.
